Row 2: ch3 (counts as first tr), 9 tr in ch-2 sp, *sc in next ch-1 sp, 10 tr in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * four more times - [6 petals made], *sc in next ch-1 sp, 8 dc in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * five more times - [12 petals made], *sc in next ch-1 sp, 6 hdc in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * five more times - [18 petals made], slip stitch into last ch-2 sp.
Leave a 12" tail, cut the yarn and pull it through the last stitch to fasten off.
Rotate the petals so that the larger treble crochet petals are at the bottom and the smaller half double crochet petals are at the top. You may want to use the pen or pencil to wrap the center petals around if desired. Be sure to stagger the petals so they are not aligned directly on top of each other.
Thread the tapestry needle and using the long strand, sew the layers together working around the bottom circumference of the rose and catching all layers.
