Abbreviations (US Terms)

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

sk: skip

sl: slip

sp: space

st/sts: stitch/stitches

Instructions:

Start with a magic circle or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring. 

Round 1: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 11 dc into ring, Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. [12 sts]

Round 2: ch 3, dc into same st, 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3.  [24 sts]

Round 3: ch 3, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from to end of round. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. [36 sts] 

Round 4 (ears): sk 2, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next st, sk 2, sl st in next 3 sts, sk 2, (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in next st, sk 2, sl st into next st and fasten off.

Optional: 

Embroider a nose, whiskers or face using scrap yarn.
