Size H (5mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle

ch: chain
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
sc: single crochet
sk: skip
sl: slip
sp: space
st/sts: stitch/stitches
Pumpkin Granny Square Instructions:
Start with a magic circle or chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Round 1: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 11 dc into ring, Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. [12 sts]
Round 2: ch 1, (sc, hdc) into same st, 2 hdc in next st, 2 dc in each of the next 3 sts, (hdc, sc) in next st, (sc, hdc) in next st. 2 dc in each of the next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc, sc) in last st. Join in the top of the first sc and pull through with the new color. [24 sts]
Round 3: (New Color) ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next st, (2 dc, ch 2) in next st, 2 dc in next st, hdc in next, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next, (2 dc, ch 2) in next st, 2 dc in next, hdc in next 4 sts, (2 dc, ch 2) in next st, 2 dc in next. hdc in next, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, (2 dc, ch 2) in next st, 2 dc in next, hdc in last 2 sts. Join with a sl st in top of 1st hdc. [32 sts]
Round 4: ch 3, dc in each st around, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into each ch 2 (corner) space from round 3. Join in top of the ch 3 and fasten off. [48 sts]
