Abbreviations:

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

sc: single crochet

sp: space

sl-st: slip stitch

st: stitch










Notes:

  • This bandana is a made-to-measure pattern. It is recommended to make the base of the triangle approximately 1-2 inches less than the actual head circumference to allow for stretching and tying.

  • The yarn and hook sizes are recommendations. You can use any yarn and hook combination that you like.

  • "Granny cluster" refers to a group of 3 double crochets in one stitch or space.












Instructions:

Bandana:

Row 1: ch 4 (ch 3 counts as dc), (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the 4th ch from the hook. Turn.

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2dc in the first st, skip next 2 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the ch-2 sp, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in final stitch. Turn.

Row 3: ch 3, 2 dc in the first st, skip next 3 dc, place 3 dc in sp between the 3 dc clusters, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the ch-2 sp, skip next 3 dc, place 3 dc in sp between the 3 dc clusters, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in final stitch. Turn.

Row 4: ch 3, 2 dc in the first st, *skip the next 3 dc, place 3 dc in sp between the 3 dc granny clusters; repeat from * to the ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the ch-2 sp, *skip the next 3 dc, place 3 dc in sp between the 3 dc granny clusters; repeat from * to the last granny cluster, 3 dc in the final stitch. Turn.

Repeat row 4 until the base of the triangle measures the desired width.

Straps:

Ch a minimum of 9 inches for the first strap, sl-st in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across, sc across the top of the bandana to the other side, then ch the same amount for the second strap, sl-st in the second ch from the hook and each ch across, slip stitch back into the corner stitch of the bandana.

Finishing:

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
