Autumn Shawl Pattern

A beautiful linen stitch shawl pattern.

This simple crochet shawl pattern uses the linen stitch. The shawl can be made with any size yarn or hook, The sizes and gauge given are a guideline.

Materials: 

1180 yards DK weight yarn - shown in Lion Brand Mandala in Centaur 

Size I (5.5mm) crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 

20 stitches / 20 rows = 4 in /10 cm in linen stitch 

 

Finished Size: 

30" height / 62" wingspan 

Abbreviations (US Terms)

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sp: space

st/sts: stitch/stitches

Instructions:

Shawl body

Row 1: ch 2, in 2nd ch from hook (sc, ch 2, sc), Turn. [2 sc sts]

Row 2: ch 1, sc in 1st sc, ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) into ch 2 sp, ch 1, sc in last sc. Turn. [4 sc sts] 
Row 3: ch 1, sc in 1st sc, ch 1, sc in ch sp, ch 1 (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch 2 sp, ch 1, sc in next ch sp, ch 1 sc in last sc. Turn. [6 sc sts] 

Row 4: ch 1, sc in 1st sc, ch 1, *sc in next ch sp, ch 1; repeat from * to ch 2 sp, (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch 2 sp, ch 1, *sc in next ch sp, ch 1; repeat from * to last st, sc in last sc st. [8 sc sts]

Repeat row 4 to 108 rows total, as shown, or to desired length. [2 sc st increased per row] 

Weave in ends with tapestry needle and block shawl.

Optional: add tassels or fringe with any leftover yarn.
