Materials:
Yarn (2 colors minimum)
Crochet hook
Abbreviations (US Terms):
ch: chain
dc: double crochet
edc-cl: extended double crochet cluster
sp: space
st/sts: stitch/stitches
Special Stitches:
Shell stitch: 2 double crochets, chain 1, 2 double crochets in the same stitch
Extended double crochet cluster: yarn over, insert hook into space 2 rows below, draw up a long loop, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over insert hook again into space 2 rows below, draw up a long loop, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, pull through remaining 3 loops.
Instructions:
Chain multiples of 5
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook, (dc plus ch 3 counts as 2 dc), *skip 4 ch, shell stitch in next; repeat from * to last 6 ch, dc in each of the last 2 ch.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in next st, work a shell stitch into the ch-sp of each of the shell stitches from the previous row, dc in each of the last 2 sts, change color at the end of the row.
Row 3: ch 3, dc in next st, edc-cl into the sp from 2 rows below, *work a shell stitch into the ch-sp of the shell stitch from the previous row, then edc-cl into the sp from 2 rows below; repeat from * to the last 2 sts, dc in each of the last 2 sts.
Row 4: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in next st, work a shell stitch into the ch-sp of each of the shell stitches from the previous row, dc in each of the last 2 sts.
Row 5: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in next st, work a shell stitch into the ch-sp of each of the shell stitches from the previous row, dc in each of the last 2 sts, change color at the end of the row.
Repeat rows 3-5 to desired length.
