Crochet Granny Square Shawl Pattern

This simple crochet shawl pattern uses the granny stitch. The shawl can be made with any size yarn or hook, The sizes and gauge given are a guideline.

Crochet Granny Square Shawl Pattern

Materials: 

Shown in worsted weight yarn in Red Heart Stripes Fruity Stripes (4 skeins)

Size I (5.5mm) crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 

14 stitches / 8 rows = 4 in /10 cm in double crochet 


Finished Size: 

Make it to any size 

Abbreviations (US Terms)

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

sp: space

st/sts: stitch/stitches

Instructions:

Shawl body

Row 1: ch 4, working in the 4th ch from the hook, (2dc, ch 2, 3 dc). Turn. 

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same st, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2 sp, 3 dc in last st. Turn. 

Row 3: ch 3, 2 dc in same st, work 3 dc into each space between 3-dc clusters from previous row to ch-2 sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into ch-2 sp, work 3 dc into each space between 3-dc clusters from previous row to end, 3 dc in last st,

Repeat row 3 to desired length. 

Weave in ends with tapestry needle and block shawl.
